Why You SHOULD use Helical Piers for your Swimming Pool Install

September 18, 2020 / in Uncategorized / by Admin

When putting in a new swimming pool, like all new construction you see the project will start with the foundation of the project. When starting the foundation this begins with excavating the hole that will mimic the size, shape, and floor of the pool you will be installing. The pool is constructed against the the form that has been excavated, this is never changed or removed, it is the integrity of the swimming pool. If the soil where the install is to take place is not good or does not have the ability to hold the pressure of the pool, the shell of the structure will fail. This is where helicals will come into play.

Why you need helicals to support your pool:

Often when installing a pool you will know the neighborhood history, if the area has a history of settlement may be the first indicator that there is poor soil and there is extra support needed. If engineered fills are needed to build homes or buildings in the neighborhood then most likely the soil is poor and helicals will be a permanent solution to this issue. When using any type of fill, even when soil appears to be fine, putting heavy structures on helicals will provide extra support, safety, and stability.

How do the Helicals provide support for your pool installation?

The installation of a swimming pool is done through excavating the shape/form of the structure, helicals are then installed into the ground after excavation, and the depth is predetermined by an engineer, done through soil tests, or done using a test pier. Once the piers are installed to the proper depth, there will be a new construction bracket, or pile cap you will use that will be attached to your pool structure.

Helical piles will last a lifetime, allowing you to get the most out of your investment.
